L'ÉTAPE DU TOUR ALPE D'HUEZ

The trip is about to begin! Upon arrival at the hotel, the OM Cycling Tours team will be there to welcome you. After checking in at the Royal Ours Blanc Hôtel & Restaurant - Alpe d'Huez, we’ll settle in and then do a bike fit.

Next, we’ll set off on a warm-up ride to get into the spirit of the trip. The day ends with a group dinner—the perfect time to get to know each other and share our first impressions of the tour!

The Col du Galibier is one of the most iconic mountain passes in European cycling, located between Savoie and the Hautes-Alpes in the French Alps. The summit sits at 2,642 meters, and this climb has been a legendary part of the Tour de France since 1911.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Galibier is the quintessential “goosebump-inducing” climb: vast landscapes, a true high-mountain road, and a final stretch that changes completely above 2,000 meters, with a harsher environment, thin air, and spectacular views.

The day starts with an energy-boosting breakfast, followed by a pre-race easy ride to loosen up our legs without overexerting ourselves. In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Expo Village to pick up our race kits, then take some time to relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Alpe d’Huez.

Back at the hotel, we’ll hold a pre-race briefing, which is essential for getting a clear picture of the route and key points. To wrap up the day: a light dinner, followed by some downtime as we get everything ready for the next day.

Few climbs capture the legend of the Tour de France quite like Alpe d’Huez. With its 21 iconic hairpin turns, each dedicated to a stage winner, this mountain has become the very symbol of hardship and passion.

Since 1952, when Fausto Coppi achieved one of his most legendary feats, the Tour has come here 32 times, creating unforgettable moments. In 2026, it will put everyone to the test! 12.8 km at an average gradient of 7.3%: a true, unadulterated climb where only what you have in your legs matters.

Participating in L’Étape du Tour de France 2026 means experiencing something unique, riding on the legendary roads of the Grande Boucle: Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Télégraphe, and Col du Galibier, before tackling the wildest terrain of the Col de Sarenne and finishing in the electric atmosphere of Alpe d’Huez.
